Hurricane Irma hits St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands

On September 6th Hurricane Irma hit the U.S. Virgin Islands as a Category 5 storm with sustained wind speeds of 185mph. This disaster killed 38 people and destroyed the islands. The smallest and most remote of these islands is St. John, where my husband’s family has lived for the past 15 years. It is with a heavy heart to say that the hurricane completely destroyed their home among many other homes on the island. They lost everything, including one of their beloved dogs. This past June I had the honor of shooting Stone Fox Swim 2017 retreat collection on St. John. Something my husband and I had dreamed of doing for a long time. He along with my in-laws helped with the planning of the entire shoot and were so happy to share this beautiful island with all of us. I feel so blessed to have been able to capture these images of the island before any of the devastation occurred. Although the storm has passed, the island and its residents need help. Stone Fox Swim is kind enough to be donating a portion of the Retreat 2017 collections proceeds directly to relief efforts. It is amazing what can be accomplished during these tragedies when people come together.

If you are looking for ways to help those in need, please donate to any of these amazing foundations who are doing great work.

I wanted to share some behind the scenes images from our shoot. We spent a week on this beautiful island shooting, scouting, and adventuring. I feel so blessed to be able to share these experiences with such an amazing team and some of my closest friends.
